Eat a healthy diet

What you eat has an impact on more than just your waistline. Eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables also encourages healthy teeth and gums. Avoid eating food that is high in sugar and be sure you are getting adequate calcium and vitamin D.

Wear protective gear

If you play an impact sport or engage in other potentially damaging activities (such as rock climbing or martial arts), you should always use a protective mouth guard to ensure your teeth are protected in case you take a hit.

Get regular dental care

You should see your dentist at least once a year but twice a year is even better. If you are having any tooth or gum pain this warrants an extra visit to get to the root cause of the problem. Remember, you will have an easier time avoiding serious dental problems if you have things taken care of as soon as possible.
